Country Birds Don't Appreciate Modern Aesthetic

As part of our short mini-moon to St. Louis, we went to all the places we love to shop that don't exist in the boonies (pretty much everywhere). One of our very favorite places is Crate & Barrel. We find it to be beautiful pieces for not any more than you'd pay anywhere else (and good quality at that).

On our way into the store, we noticed a display in their window. In it was a super modern (and super green) bird feeder. We did our shopping and casually mentioned it to the cashier that we couldn't find it. She went and brought one to us from the back since they hadn't been put out yet. We were thrilled. What a cool find:

We took it home, excited to treat the gazillion birds that visit our backyard daily.

Weren't we fooled!

Apparently, country birds don't appreciate the ultra mod look. Not one single bird has touched the darn thing in almost a week. We've moved it three times. Today Michael even drug their favorite limb to perch on next to the feeder and placed a bowl of food under the full feeder. Nothing.

And they say city folk are rude! :)

  1. That is a really neat bird feeder, and funny to read how you are trying to get the birds to use it!

    1. This morning a blue jay ate out of the bowl underneath it, and a finch ate from the grass under it and sat on the branch. I am insulted. :)
